The Iowa Department of Transportation is seeking public feedback on a proposed bridge replacement project along Iowa Highway 10 in Hawarden.
The project would remove the existing Highway 10 bridge over Dry Creek and replace it with a new pipe culvert. Construction is currently scheduled for 2028.
Highway 10 would be closed at the project site during construction, requiring motorists to follow an offsite detour. The Iowa DOT says the anticipated detour would likely use 10th Street, Buchanan Avenue and 23rd Street.
The project remains in the public-input stage, and residents, business owners and other interested parties can review the plans and submit comments through August 10. Those submitting feedback will be asked to provide their name and email address.
Questions about the project or requests for free translation services may be directed to Iowa DOT Transportation Planner Sarah Tracy at the District 3 Office in Sioux City. The toll-free number is 855-925-2801, using project code 3981. Comments and questions may also be emailed to k84662@publicinput.com.
