Iowa Secretary of Agriculture commented on America’s 250th on a recent episode of The Daily Grind.
Iowa Ag Secretary Mike Naig describes what he sees as the core of American Exceptionalism today.
“We have had food and ag security. If you don’t have food and ag security, how do you have economic security? How do you have national security? And I think that’s, that’s one of the great messages that we’re talking a lot about here is Iowa’s role in that for our country.”

The Iowa State Fair will celebrate America’s 250th from August 13th to August 23rd. Naig encourages everyone to celebrate in their own ways as well, even if it’s just a small event.
“I was on a couple of tractor rides here recently. It was wonderful. Wonderful to see so many flags and the Betsy Ross flag flying. I mean, what I’ve been telling people all along here is that you don’t need to have a big planned major event to celebrate. Do it, do it in big ways and small ways.”

Secretary Naig says there is another event planned and lays out how you can find more Celebrations across Iowa.
“The Iowa State Fair will be one of the marquee premier events celebrating Iowa’s efforts around America 250. And then, I can’t really tell you exactly the details because this will be coming soon, but we’re going to announce another signature event that will occur this Fall. And I think it will be very Iowa and again, represent that amazing role that Iowa has played in our country so stay tuned more news coming there. There’s an America 250 Iowa website hosted by the governor actually, it’s governor.iowa.gov“
