If you haven’t noticed, Highway 75 construction in Sioux Center is underway, and crews are working to keep traffic moving as long as possible.
According to an update from the City of Sioux Center, crews are focusing on underground utility work along the corridor while keeping traffic flowing through lane closures rather than full shutdowns.
Current work includes installing a water main and storm sewer between 5th Street North and 7th Street North. Once that phase is complete, crews will continue moving north, working along the sides of the highway up to 12th Street North.
Craig Lauritzen of DGR Engineering says drivers will continue to see shifting lane closures as that work progresses.
At the same time, landscaping crews are expected to begin work in the downtown medians, which will bring additional lane closures in that area. Those closures will primarily impact inside lanes, but traffic will still be able to move through town.
Lauritzen says larger impacts are still a few weeks away.
Drivers are encouraged to stay alert as lane closures shift and crews continue working along the corridor.
