Feenstra Calls Cook Report Rating “Concerning News” for Iowa Governor’s Race

Republican Congressman Randy Feenstra is raising concerns after a national political analysis shifted its outlook on the governor’s race in Iowa.

In an email to supporters, Feenstra, a Republican from Hull, pointed to a recent update from the Cook Political Report that moved the race into the “toss-up” category, calling the development “concerning news.”

The campaign attributed the change to increased outside spending, saying “out-of-state liberals and dark money groups are dumping millions of dollars into Iowa to flip our state blue.”

As part of Sioux County Radio’s Road to Iowa Governor series, Feenstra criticized Democratic opponent Rob Sand.

Feenstra is currently serving Iowa’s 4th Congressional District and is seeking the Republican nomination for governor in 2026. Feenstra is currently one of five GOP candidates, while State Auditor Rob Sand is running unopposed.
