Dordt University has announced a new partnership with Western Theological Seminary that creates a faster, more affordable path for students pursuing ministry.
What’s Changing
The agreement allows Dordt theology graduates to complete a Master of Divinity (M. Div.) degree at Western in as little as two years. That shortens the typical timeline and reduces the overall cost of seminary education.
Focus Beyond the Classroom
Dordt leaders say the program is designed to go beyond efficiency. The partnership emphasizes a continuous path of pastoral and spiritual formation, starting at the undergraduate level and continuing through seminary.
Shared Theological Foundation
Both institutions operate within the Reformed Christian tradition. Officials say the shared foundation will provide students with a smooth academic transition and consistent theological training.
Western describes itself as an evangelical and ecumenical seminary focused on preparing students for Christ-centered, biblically grounded leadership.
Addressing a Growing Need
The partnership comes as churches across the country report a shortage of pastors and ministry staff.
Dordt leaders say the program is aimed at identifying and equipping students for ministry while helping them make wise use of time and financial resources.
Officials say students who follow the pathway can expect:
•A shorter timeline to earn an M. Div.
•Lower overall education costs
•A more seamless transition from college to seminary
•Continued development in ministry leadership and formation
