Donation Account Set Up for Injured Hospers Firefighters

The City of Hospers is asking residents for continued support after two Hospers firefighters were injured during a training exercise last Monday night.

City officials first announced the incident in a public statement, encouraging the community to keep the injured firefighters — and all local Fire & EMS volunteers — in their thoughts and prayers. The city noted the commitment of responders who routinely leave their families at a moment’s notice to protect lives and property.

An additional update shared on Wednesday by a Hospers Ambulance volunteer offered guidance for those wanting to help. Residents are encouraged to provide kind words, respect the privacy of the firefighters and their families as they recover, and support in ways that are both dignified and considerate.

For those wishing to contribute, cards or donations can be delivered to the Hospers City Office, and American State Bank has established a donation account under the name Zeutenhorst to assist the affected families.

Officials have not released further details on the firefighters’ conditions but say they are grateful for the strong community response as the volunteers continue to heal.
