Deer Crash Southwest of Orange City Sends Driver to Hospital with Minor Injuries

A driver was treated for minor injuries after striking a deer early Sunday morning southwest of Orange City.

According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened at approximately 3:55 a.m. on Sunday, May 31st, on 470th Street about two miles southwest of Orange City.

Authorities say 34-year-old Geovanni Hernandez-Dominguez of Orange City was driving a 2019 Chevy Silverado westbound on 470th Street when a deer entered the roadway. The pickup struck the animal.

Hernandez-Dominguez was transported by private vehicle to Orange City Area Health System for treatment of minor injuries.

The Silverado sustained an estimated $3,000 in damage.
