Community Health Partners of Sioux County is working to spread awareness of prostate cancer awareness month.
Community Health Partners is working to inform Siouxland residents about prostate cancer screening. Terri Bos, Director of Community Health Services for Sioux County Community Health Partners, lays out when people should more seriously think about prostate cancer screening.
“Usually it’s age specific, and we really highlight that men over fifty should talk to their doctor.”
People are typically more at risk with age, but Bos reminds people to talk with their doctor before getting screened.
“Their health care provider can guide them to know how often they should do it, which also highlights the importance of having an annual wellness visit, because then your doctor can stay on top of that with you.”
September is also National Suicide Prevention month. Community Health Partners shares information on 988 year round for people who are having a crisis. Bos explains how they help those in crisis.
“If you are having a mental health crisis, what they can do is they can link you directly to our local mobile crisis unit, and they can come to you to visit with you in person. If you are in a mental health crisis or if you are having suicidal thoughts.”
Community Health Partners is also giving away free radon test kits for homeowners in Sioux County.
