The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention holds various Darkness Walks to help fundraise for the foundation and to spread awareness about suicide prevention. Michael Lamma, EVP and Chief Operations Officer at the foundation, sat down on Sioux County Radio’s program Rog’s Corner to discuss how we can do our part in Sioux County.
Lamma explains that Darkness Walks are nationwide and how we can find the nearest one.
Lamma lays out what the Foundation does to help prevent suicide, on top of Darkness Walks and supporting local chapters.
Lamma illustrates how you can tell if someone is contemplating suicide and how you can help them.
To help spread awareness about suicide prevention or to find a Darkness Walk near you, visit afsp.org/walks. If you are having thoughts about suicide, call 988, the National Suicide Hotline; people are on the line to help 24/7.
