$9,300 Iowa Tourism Grant to help launch new Visit Sioux Center website

The City of Sioux Center has been awarded a $9,300 Iowa Tourism Grant to launch a tourism-focused Visit Sioux Center website.

The new Visit Sioux Center website will be a landing page designed to engage potential and current visitors, potential residents and employees, prospective university students and their families, and others curious about Sioux Center, Iowa, or planning to visit or move to the community.

The website is being developed and launched with insights from the local Tourism Steering Committee and tourism stakeholders in various sectors across Sioux Center.

“We want to give a big-picture look at attractions, amenities, restaurants, lodging, shopping, and more here and entice people to dig deeper,” said Sioux Center Communications Coordinator Maggie Landegent. “The goal is to make it easy for people to think, ‘Wow, Sioux Center has a lot to offer, and I can plan an evening or weekend or life here.’”

Work is beginning this month, and the website is slated to launch by the end of 2025.

This grant comes through the Iowa Tourism Office, which announced $307,200 in Iowa Tourism Grants to 35 organizations around the state, selected out of 109 eligible applications seeking over $971,509 in grant funding. The competitive program funds tourism-related marketing initiatives, meetings and events that benefit both local economies and the state’s economy.

Visitors spent more than $7 billion in 2023 across Iowa’s economy, generating a total economic impact of more than $10 billion, generating 70,954 jobs. Sioux County’s portion of direct visitor spending in a year is about $50 million, generating 432 jobs.
