Wingfield joins Northwestern men’s soccer coaching staff

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Joshua Wingfield will join the Red Raider men’s soccer coaching staff in the 2023 season as a graduate assistant, head coach Dan Swier announced.

Wingfield was a key contributor on the 2021 team that qualified for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) tournament, bringing the Raiders to the national tournament for the first time since 2007. He appeared in 20 of 21 matches that season, starting 17 contests and netting five goals. For his career, Wingfield scored 11 goals and had six assists.

In addition to his work on the pitch, Wingfield spent a semester as an intern for Swier.

“I am pleased that Josh will continue to be a part of the men’s soccer program at Northwestern,” Swier commented. “I know that we will work well together because I coached him for five seasons. As an athlete in our program, he was exposed to a broad range of experiences. He played both JV and varsity, and even featured on a top-25 team at the national tournament. He will be able to draw from all of these experiences when relating to the many young men he will have the opportunity to impact in the years ahead.”

Originally from Smyrna, Delaware, Wingfield is a 2023 graduate of Northwestern College with a degree in sport management.
