Wiebe Faber to Lead Women’s Tennis Program

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Northwestern College has named Harrison Wiebe Faber as the next head coach of its women’s tennis program, bringing a background in collegiate athletics and student development to the position.

“We are excited to have Harrison lead our women’s tennis program,” said Vice President for Athletics, Tony Hoops. “His collegiate tennis experience combined with his ability to invest into the lives of young people made him the ideal candidate to lead the program over the next two years.”

Wiebe Faber was a three-year member of the tennis team at Tabor College (Kan.), where he also served as a team captain for two seasons. In 2016, he was honored with the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) Sportsmanship Award, recognizing his leadership and character on the court.

Wiebe Faber currently serves as the NEXT Program Assistant at Northwestern and will continue in that role alongside his responsibilities as head coach. In his position, he recruits and supervises student mentors and tutors for Northwestern’s NEXT students, helping ensure they are supported throughout their college experience.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to lead the women’s tennis team for the next couple of years,” Wiebe Faber said. “We have a talented group of women and I’m excited to work with them to be the best students, competitors, and tennis players possible. They are exemplary members of the Northwestern community, and I’m looking forward to growing together on and off the court.”

With the hire of Wiebe Faber, former Director of Tennis Operations Maurie Tomke will transition into a new role as Director of the Rowenhorst Student Center’s DeWitt Physical Fitness Center.

“I want to thank Maurie for his committment to Red Raider tennis this past season. His transition into this new role will greatly benefit the RSC for our students and local community,” said Hoops.
