Voss and Fritz Earn AFCA/NAIA All-American Nods

WACO, Texas – Northwestern football student-athletes Trystin Voss and Kylar Fritz have earned AFCA/NAIA All-American honors, the two organizations announced this morning.

Trystin Voss –First Team (Defensive Line)

A two-time AFCA/NAIA All-American, Voss was a valuable asset on both sides of the ball this season. The senior from Rogersville, Missouri started four games on both the offensive and defensive lines while the Raiders combatted injuries. Named the 2025 GPAC Defensive Player of the Year, Voss totaled 25 tackles with 7.5 for loss on the year. He also picked up five sacks for losses of 36 yards on the year and led the Raiders with 15 QB hurries. Earlier this year, Voss was named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, which is given annually to college football’s premier scholar-athlete.

“Trystin was a dominant force along the line of scrimmage for us,” stated head coach Matt McCarty. “He set the tone for us and played a large part in our success this fall.”

He closes his time with the Raiders with 143 total tackles, 34.5 tackles for loss, and 19.5 sacks.

Kylar Fritz – Second Team (Defensive Back)

Earning All-American honors for the first time in his career, Fritz was third on the Raider defense with 49 tackles. He also led the team with nine pass breakups and recorded an interception. Through three seasons, the junior from Sioux Center, Iowa totaled 140 tackles, 18 deflections, and four interceptions.

“Other teams had to know where Kylar was on every snap,” McCarty added. “He was a key part in helping us have the nation’s No. 1 scoring defense.”

William Penn (Iowa) running back Destynd Loring was named the AFCA/NAIA Offensive Player of the Year, while Southeastern (Fla.) defensive lineman Thomas Ibrahim earned Defensive Player of the Year honors.
