Vis and Coppock Named All-Americans

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), has announced its All-American teams for the recently completed 2022-23 season and Jacob Vis (Senior; Rock Valley, Iowa) and Bryce Coppock (Junior; Hawarden, Iowa) were both accorded honors.

Vis averaged 19.4 points per game with 7.6 rebounds per outing with 1.8 assists and 1.2 blocks per contest. Vis converted 65.9 percent of his field goals and 45.5 percent of his three-point shots. Vis ends his career with 1,305 points (18th all-time) and 581 rebounds (17th all-time). He converted 62.8 percent of his field goals in three seasons (3rd all-time) and earlier this season was to the All-Great Plains Athletic Conference first-team. Vis’s 641 points this season is the fourth highest all-time total in program history.

“Jacob Vis had one of the best years a player at Dordt has had in many years. His ability to make 3’s, score at the basket, and get to the foul line was extraordinary. He was consistent and played well in big games,” said Dordt basketball coach Brian Van Haaften.

Coppock scored 17.4 points per game with 4.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists per contest and he had 48 made three-point baskets and he converted 35.8 percent of his three-point shots. Coppock has scored 1,409 career points (9th all-time) and he has 198 career assists with 154 made three-point shots (10th all-time).

“Bryce Coppock has been one of the most consistent players the last two years. His numbers have been roughly the same. He has steadily improved and is a big shot taker and a big shot maker,” said Van Haaften.

Dordt concluded the 2022-23 season with a 26-7 record and a second consecutive berth in the NAIA National Championship bracket where the Defenders advanced to the Round of 32.
