Jesse Van Kalsbeek of Northwestern College is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports men’s basketball defensive player-of-the-week. Van Kalsbeek, a sophomore from Sheldon, Iowa, was dominant on both sides of the ball last week. He piled up 17 defensive rebounds, two steals, and three blocks on the defensive end, while averaging 26.0 points, 10.5 assists, and 9.5 rebounds. He recorded a triple-double in a loss to Morningside last Wednesday with 24 points, 12 boards, and 10 assists. It was the program’s first triple-double since Kevin Van Veldhuizen’s 42 points, 27 rebounds, and 11 blocks in 1988.
