The Minnesota Vikings return to the practice field today (Tuesday) with a three-day mandatory minicamp beginning tomorrow at team headquarters in Eagan. The Vikes just completed back-to-back weeks of voluntary organized team activities, breaking in new players and watching a two-man quarterback battle brew. Incumbent J.J. McCarthy is competing against free-agent acquisition Kyler Murray to be the top signal-caller.
Vikings linebacker and former Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley standout, Andrew Van Ginkel, says this is a key time of year to learn new things and improve as a team.
Van Ginkel says they are looking to fill the shoes of Jonathan Greenard, who was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason.
Van Ginkel says Dallas Turner will help fill the void left by Greenard’s departure.
Van Ginkel says he still isn’t sure if safety Harrison Smith will return.
Van Ginkel notched 28 combined tackles, seven sacks, and an interception for the Vikings in the 2025-26 campaign.
