Two Dordt softball players earn All-American honors

Dordt University softball players Ella Koster and Abby Kraemer were named to the 2023 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) All-American list by the national office last week.

Koster, a senior from Dorr, Michigan, earned second team honors and is just one of two players in the designated player role on the first or second team. Koster ranked third in the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) with a team-leading .418 batting average, one of three players in the conference to hit better than .400. The senior was among the GPAC leaders in triples (4), slugging percentage (.667), hits (59) and total bases (94).

Kraemer, a senior from Alta, Iowa, closed out her decorated career within the pitching circle by earning honorable mention accolades. Kraemer posted a GPAC-leading 1.09 earned run average, ninth best in the NAIA, and was among the top five in the conference in wins (19), compete games (22), shutouts (9), saves (3), innings (173) and strikeouts (186). The senior was named the GPAC Pitcher of the Year for the 2023 season and claimed first team all-conference honors for the second consecutive year. Kraemer ended her Defender career as the program’s leader in both strikeouts (581) and saves (6), second in wins (52) and third in earned run average (1.92) and innings pitched (540.2).
