Two Dordt athletes earn GPAC honors

Willem Den Hartog from Dordt University is this week’s GPAC Men’s field athlete-of-the-week. Den Hartog, a junior from Nampa, Idaho, won the pole vault at the Mount Marty Last Chance meet held in Yankton, South Dakota. He cleared 4.75m and hit the ‘B’ standard where he is ranked 12th in the current NAIA performance list. Den Hartog’s mark is also a school record, breaking the old mark that he set earlier this season.

Isaac Davelaar of Dordt University is this week’s GPAC track athlete-of-the-week. Davelaar, a junior from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, had a part in multiple wins at the SDSU Indoor Classic, one of the largest meets of the season for the Defenders. On Saturday, Davelaar won the 600m with a meet record and ‘A’ standard time of 1:18.29. His time ranks second on the current NAIA performance list. Davelaar then anchored the Defenders winning 4×400 relay in a field that also consisted of NCAA D-I and D-II teams. The Defenders hit the ‘A’ standard with a time of 3:13.31 which also second in the NAIA and third fastest in program history.
