Three Defenders Named Football All-Americans

Sioux Center, Iowa) The American Football Coaches Association and the NAIA have announced the 2025 All-America Teams and Ethan Hansen (Senior; Appleton, Wisconsin), Stephn Leinen (Junior; Harlan, Iowa) and Joel Akers (Senior; Winterset, Iowa) all earned notice in the voting.

Leinen was a Second-Team All-American after converting 52-53 point after attempts and he converted 11-16 field goals with a school record 60-yard field goal. Through three seasons he is 28-41 on field goal attempts and is 144-148 in his point after attempts.

Hansen is a Second-Team selection and Akers a Third-Team pick on the offensive line. The two helped Dordt to 38.3 points per game and 241 rushing yards and 455 yards per game total. The Defenders ranked in the top-15 in total offense, yards per game, total rushing yards and rushing yards per game and yards per rush.

The honors bring Dordt football’s total number of AFCA All-Americans to 16 and Dordt has had at least one All-American since 2019.
