Small signs to play professionally in Albania

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Former Red Raider men’s basketball standout Jay Small has signed a contract with KB Teuta Durres, a member of the Albanian Basketball Superliga, the highest division in the Albanian Basketball League.

A three-year starter at Northwestern, Small finished his career with 1,287 points and earned All-Conference honors in each season. He averaged 14.1 points per game on 42.0% shooting in his time in Raider Red, helping Northwestern to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) tournament twice and a Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) tournament title in 2021.

“What an opportunity for Jay,” commented head coach Kris Korver. “We are so excited for him! Jay is a strong, tough, physical guard with second-to-none competitive spirit. He has the ability to create for himself and for others. We will be rooting for and praying for Jay as he goes on this adventure!”

Located in Durres, Albania, KB Teuta is one of the oldest teams in its league, winning four Superliga titles. Small will join the team this week ahead of the start of the season in October.
