Schany’s Jersey to be Enshrined in Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame Ring of Honor

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Northwestern senior forward Molly Schany will have her jersey put on display in the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame Ring of Honor in celebration of her accomplishments in the 2023-24 season.

“We congratulate Molly on this fun and deserving recognition,” head coach Kristin Rotert commented. “She’s made an incredible impact during her time at Northwestern, and we are proud to have her as a Red Raider.”

The Ring of Honor has honored 100 players each year from all high school and college levels since 1999. It provides a backdrop to the Hall of Fame’s archives and recognizes women’s basketball players for their achievements, fulfilling the mission to “honor the past, celebrate the present, and promote the future.”

Schany’s recognition in the Ring of Honor is well-deserved, as the Emmetsburg, Iowa native received NAIA Third Team All-American accolades in 2023-24. A First Team All-GPAC selection last season, Schany led the team and was second in the GPAC in points (17.3) and rebounds (8.7) per game. She scored a career-high 34 points in the Raiders’ NAIA First Round win in March.

“It is such an incredible honor to be able to represent Raider athletics,” said Schany. “I am truly grateful for everyone who has helped me get to where I am today. To the people who came before me and those who play beside me, to those who guide me, teach me, and cheer me on, thank you for the constant support and encouragement to pursue excellence by honoring Christ.”

Schany enters the 2024-25 season with 1,720 career points, which ranks 10th in program history. She is also eighth on Northwestern’s all-time rebounding list (845), the seventh Red Raider to reach 1,600 points and 800 rebounds in her career.

“I never imagined an opportunity like this would present itself, but I am thankful and grateful to be part of a program that strives for excellence in all spheres of life,” Schany added.

She joins women’s basketball greats Candace Parker, Sue Bird, Kelsey Plum, Breanna Stewart, A’ja Wilson, and others to have their jerseys in the Ring of Honor. Her jersey will be on display from September 2024 to October 2025.
