Rock Valley Native Greenfield Improves Draft Stock at NFL Combine

Former Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley football player, Garret Greenfield, is primed for the 2024 NFL Draft.

Greenfield graduated from Rock Valley High School in 2018 and then went to play collegiately at South Dakota State in Brookings for six years. He was redshirted in his first year with the Jackrabbits and also received an extra year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

While at SDSU, Greenfield won two national titles in 2023 and 2024. During his time there, he received multiple awards. He was awarded a spot on the Associated Press FCS All-America First Team after the 2020-21 season, and in 2022. Greenfield made the move from right tackle to left prior to the 2022 season.

Greenfield was part of the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis last week and impressed to say the least. The 6’6, 311 pound lineman broke the vertical jump record for offensive lineman at the combine at 38.5 inches. The previous record was set by BYU’s Blake Freeland last year at 37 inches. Greenfield also added a 40-yard dash time of 5.22 which was 34th among offensive lineman. NFL.com currently ranks Greenfield as the 16th best offensive tackle according to his combine performance.

The Rock Valley native joined Calling All Sports, hosted by Mark Ovenden, on Tuesday, March 5th, to discuss the combine, the pre-draft process, and more. During the show, Greenfield said he’s been busy since the college football season ended for the Jacks.

Greenfield has been making the Fort Worth, Texas area a home away from home and has enjoyed the warm weather.

Fellow Jackrabbit offensive lineman Mason McCormick (Sioux Falls, SD) also participated in the combine and has known Greenfield since high school.

Greenfield kept his eye on SDSU while living in Rock Valley and was drawn to their coaching staff.

Football has been part of Greenfield’s life since his early years.

He enjoyed his time at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis last week.

Overall, Greenfield was pleased with how he performed during the event.

Calling All Sports airs weekday afternoons from 4:00 to 5:00 pm on Hawk Country 106.9 KIHK. Greenfield hopes to join fellow Northwest Iowa natives Andrew Van Ginkel, Christian Rozeboom, and Ko Kieft in the National Football League. The 2024 NFL Draft will begin on Thursday night, April 25th, live from Detroit.
