Northwestern has swept this week’s GPAC Baseball Awards. Brad Tornow has been named the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Pitcher-of-the-week while Luke Wroblewski has been named the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Player-of-the-Week.
Tornow, a senior from Washington, Iowa, tied a school record with 16 strikeouts in a complete-game shutout victory over Valley City State on Saturday. He allowed just two hits in the contest as the Raiders posted a 4-0 victory.
Wroblewski, a senior from Sussex, Wisconsin, knocked in 13 runs in the six-game RussMatt Invitaional in Florida last week. He drove in six runs, hit a grand slam and was a single short of a cycle in a 16-5 win over IU-South Bend.
The Raiders open conference play Friday at Mount Marty.
