GREENWOOD, Ind. – Northwestern softball student-athletes Ashtyn Billings, Chloe Gallegos, Cassidy Gors, and Tatum Schmalbeck have been recognized with College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors, the CSC office announced today.
Billings, a junior english and secondary education major from Ankeny, Iowa, provided versatility at the plate, on the basepaths, and in the field. She was second in the GPAC in steals (32), hit .323, and drew a career-high 35 walks. Billings nabbed 72 bases in her three-year career, which sits sixth in program history, and stole at a .935 efficiency.
A CSC Academic All-District selection in 2024, Gallegos put together a decorated career behind the plate. The senior exercise science major from Carroll, Iowa hit a career-best .381 this season, tallying 42 RBIs and 53 hits. She also drew a career-high 30 walks, totaling a program-best 87 for her career. Gallegos was a First Team All-GPAC selection this spring and earned three all-conference honors in her time with the Raiders.
Gors, a junior elementary education major from Tea, South Dakota, started in 49 games for the Raiders this season. She hit .254 on the year with 18 driven in, also drawing 19 walks. Gors stole five bases and had three doubles to add to her totals this year.
A sophomore elementary education major from Sioux Center, Iowa, Schmalbeck received Second Team All-GPAC honors for the second time in her career. She improved her numbers from a year ago, hitting .310 with 40 RBIs, 15 doubles, and five home runs. Schmalbeck also tallied two wins in the circle, striking out 26 batters in 34.2 innings. She closed the season as one of three Raiders to start all 61 games.
Gallegos and Schmalbeck will be placed among the nominees for CSC Academic All-America teams, voted on by members of the organization. Academic All-America teams will be announced on Tuesday, June 17.
