Northwestern softball picked second in GPAC preseason poll

(Sioux City, Iowa) – Midland University totaled 119 points and are the preseason coaches’ selection to win the 2023 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Softball Championship. The Warriors tallied 10 first place votes.

Northwestern was picked second with 102 points and two first place votes, while Morningside was third with 93 points. Jamestown and Mount Marty rounded out the top five with 80 and 78 points respectively. The Raiders enter 2023 coming off of a season in which they had a 15-6-1 GPAC record, which was second in the conference.

In 2022 Midland claimed the regular season championship. The Warriors went 19-3 in league play and 32-7 overall. Mount Marty came back and won the conference tournament over Midland.

Points were awarded on an 11-1 basis and coaches could not vote for their own team.
