Northwestern holds at No. 12 in NAIA Softball poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Northwestern softball team (43-6, 18-4 GPAC) remains at No. 12 in this week’s National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) softball coaches’ poll, the final poll of the season.

Northwestern is ranked nationally for the fifth-straight poll, with this week’s edition tying their highest ranking of the season.

The Raiders earned an automatic bid to the NAIA tournament as the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) regular season champions. For the first time since 2014, Northwestern earned at least a share of the regular season conference title, and will be the No. 1 seed in this week’s GPAC tournament.

The top-5 remains the same this week, as Oregon Tech leads the poll in the top spot. Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) is at No. 2, while Cumberlands (Ky.), Southern Oregon, and Oklahoma City round out the top spots.

Consistent with the last edition of the coaches’ poll, Northwestern is the only GPAC team ranked in the top-25. Midland is receiving votes.
