Northwestern climbs in NAIA men’s basketball coaches top 25 poll, Dordt into rankings

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – College of Idaho continued as the top team in the nation in the first regular season edition of the NAIA Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. The Yotes swept the first-place votes for the second consecutive week. The top seven teams remained the same from the preseason edition. The Northwestern men’s basketball team (2-0, 0-0 GPAC) moved up three spots to No. 18. The No. 18 ranking is the highest for the Red Raiders since the NAIA moved to one division in 2020. Northwestern opened the year 2-0 at the IU East Classic in Richmond, Indiana last weekend.

Four newcomers entered the poll this week as Xavier (La.), Dordt (Iowa), Lourdes (Ohio) and Florida College represented Nos. 22-25 in order. Among Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) schools, Northwestern is the highest-rated school. Morningside comes in at No. 19, while Dordt is No. 23, and Briar Cliff is receiving votes.
