Rock Rapids native Hannah Sieperda is returning to Iowa State University after being named Director of Operations for the Cyclone men’s wrestling program.
Iowa State men’s wrestling coach Brent Metcalf announced Thursday that Sieperda has been hired to oversee the program’s operations and logistics.
“Hannah brings several years of experience working in college athletics in an operations capacity and brings a team-first mindset that will fit our culture perfectly,” Metcalf said in a statement. “She is organized, detail-oriented, and is a great communicator, which will allow her to serve our program and student-athletes at a high level.”
Sieperda brings four years of collegiate athletics experience to Ames. Most recently, she worked as an account manager with Anthony Travel at the University of Nebraska, coordinating travel for several Husker athletic programs, including football recruiting and bowl games.
Before her time at Nebraska, Sieperda served two seasons as Director of Operations for the newly established women’s wrestling program at the University of Iowa. She also spent a season as Director of Operations for Iowa’s track and field and cross country programs, and previously worked in trademark licensing and the Iowa Athletics Hall of Fame and Museum.
A 2021 graduate of the University of Iowa, Sieperda earned degrees in sport and recreation management and English/non-fiction writing before completing her master’s degree in legal studies in 2024.
Sieperda also comes from a family familiar with Iowa State athletics. Her younger brother, Gable, completed an outstanding career with the Cyclones’ cross country and track and field programs. He was a First Team All-American in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 2024, qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials that same year, and finished his cross country career as a four-time NCAA qualifier and four-time All-Midwest Regional honoree.
