NCC Thunder Athletics Update

Men’s Soccer vs. #3 Northeast Community College (NE) Hawks: The Thunder men’s soccer team faced a tough matchup on Wednesday, September 25, falling 9-0 to the third-ranked Northeast Hawks. Despite a strong effort, NCC was unable to overcome the Hawks. The Thunder created a few scoring opportunities early but were unable to capitalize. Miscues during the game allowed Northeast to extend their lead. The men look to bounce back in their next home game against North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) on Saturday, September 28 at 1:00 p.m.

Women’s Soccer vs. #7 Northeast Community College (NE) Hawks: The Thunder women’s soccer team showed resilience and defensive grit in their match against the seventh-ranked Hawks, ultimately falling 6-0. The Thunder held Northeast to just one goal in the first half, with strong defensive play. Northeast added three more goals early in the second half before settling at six. The Thunder women will also take on NIACC at home on Saturday, September 28 at 3:30 p.m.

Sports Shooting vs. Iowa Western Community College: NCC’s Sports Shooting team competed against Iowa Western Community College at Sibley’s Otter Creek Shooting Complex on Thursday, September 26. The Thunder team shot well but were bested by Iowa Western, with the final score 493-466. Iowa Western’s Marilla Shannon, Clint Mumm, and Mason Pillard all scored 99s to lead their team to victory. The top scorer for NCC was Blake Van Roekel with a 97. The Thunder team remains positive as they continue to shoot around their season average. The Thunder Sports Shooting Team has a bye week on October 7 but will face Ellsworth Community College at home on October 12, with the time yet to be determined.
