NCC Thunder Athletics recap

Northwest Iowa Community College Thunder Athletics hit the field and the range this past week, taking on tough competition from Dakota County Technical College in soccer and Iowa Lakes Community College in sports shooting. Here’s how the Thunder performed:

Women’s Soccer vs. Dakota County Technical College — 2–0 Loss

After a long rest period between matches, the NCC Women’s Soccer team entered its Monday, September 15, matchup against Dakota County Technical College hoping to have fresh legs. However, DCTC started fast, scoring the first goal within the opening 10 minutes and adding a second goal near the end of the first half. NCC created a few chances late in the second half but ultimately was outworked, falling 2–0.

Men’s Soccer vs. Dakota County Technical College — 4–2 Loss

The men’s match also opened at a rapid pace, with DCTC taking an early lead. NCC quickly responded when Alejandro Henao, assisted by Sami Sumra, knocked in a bobbled ball to tie the score at 1–1 heading into halftime. In the second half, Nico Uricoechea found the back of the net off an assist from Jose Martinez, but DCTC pulled away to secure a 4–2 win.

Sports Shooting at Iowa Lakes Community College — NCC 460, Iowa Lakes Community College 465

On Saturday, September 13 at Iowa Lakes Community College, NCC Sports Shooting delivered a strong performance:

  • Landon Leuthold – 92
  • Andrew Kinsinger – 87
