Former MOC-Floyd Valley Boys Basketball Coach Loren De Jong has a new home. According to a press release from Siouxland Christian, De Jong has been appointed as their new Director of Athletics Development and head boys basketball coach.

“Loren De Jong embodies the vision we have for athletics at Siouxland Christian,” said incoming Superintendent Nic Scandrett. “We are serious about building a program that competes at the highest level while staying true to our mission of shaping young men and women of character and faith. Loren’s proven success as a leader in athletics, combined with his deep commitment to spiritual development and mentorship, makes him the ideal leader for this new chapter.”

With over three decades of distinguished experience in education, coaching, and leadership, De Jong brings an unparalleled track record to Siouxland Christian. His career highlights include leading MOC-Floyd Valley High School to two IHSAA Class 3A State Championships (’05 & ’25), 11 state tournament appearances, and a remarkable 616-195 record as Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach.

“It is an honor to be joining Siouxland Christian, a school built on the rock-solid foundation of Jesus Christ,” said De Jong. “I am passionate about my faith in Jesus Christ and passionate about sports. It is a privilege to play a role in using the gift of basketball and all sports programs as a tool in God’s hand to grow the faith of our student athletes. I join Siouxland Christian in my strong desire to spur student-athletes to honor God in their conduct, character, and excellence on and off the court.”

De Jong has also been recognized as State Coach of the Year twice, Sioux City Journal Coach of the Year, and All Northwest Iowa Review Coach three times. His ability to develop elite talent is evident in mentoring 13 First Team All-State players, two Iowa Mr. Basketball recipients, and one Class 3A Iowa State Player of the Year.

Siouxland Christian will be hosting a public press conference in their high school gymnasium on Thursday, April 10 at 5:00pm to welcome De Jong.
