Northwestern’s middle Zavyr Metzger is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Defender-of-the-Week. Metzger, a senior from Larchwood, Iowa, averaged 2.56 blocks per set in a 3-1 week for the Raiders, highlighted by a career-high 13-block performance in three sets against Kansas Wesleyan on Friday. In addition to her defensive efforts, Metzger averaged 1.50 kills per set for the week. Metzger’s 2.04 blocks per set season average leads the NAIA.
Lakes Area Business Leader Butch Parks Dies at 81

Longtime and well-known Iowa Great Lakes businessman Butch Parks has died at 81. Parks was the founder of Parks Marina and the iconic Barefoot Bar and Snappers.
