Dordt University’s Payton Mauldin is this week’s track athlete-of-the-week. Mauldin, a junior, from George, Iowa, hit two NAIA ‘A’ standard marks at the Jim Emmerich Invite, a meet hosted by South Datkoa State and featured athletes from NCAA Division I and II. Mauldin ran a school record time in the 800m (1:50.87) which is the top time in the NAIA to date. He then anchored the Defenders 4×400 relay that also hit the ‘A’ standard with the No. 3 time in the NAIA (3:16.1) and also the second fastest time in program history.
