Three Iowa Hawkeye football players including former Central Lyon/George-Little Rock standout Zach Lutmer have been named pre-season All-Americans by the Sporting News.
Lutmer, who is also a Lott IMPACT Trophy candidate in his fourth year with the Hawkeyes, was named to the Sporting News pre-season All-American second team. The Lott Trophy is awarded to the defensive player-of-year based on both athletic performance and personal character.
Remington Trophy candidate for the nation’s top center Kade Pieper is on the Sporting News pre-season first team while tight end DJ Vonnahme joined Lutmer on the second team.
The Hawkeyes open the season September 5th hosting Northern Illinois.
