Legendary Northwestern College football coach Larry “Bub” Korver, will be honored with a National Football Foundation Hall of Fame On-Campus Salute presented by Fidelity Investments® August 30th as part of the Raiders season opener against Waldorf.
At halftime of the game which kicks off at 6:00 p.m., Korver, who will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in December in Las Vegas, will be presented with a Hall of Fame plaque that will remain on permanent display at Northwestern.
Korver led the Raiders to two national titles (1973, 1983), compiled a record of 212-77-6, and earned a postseason berth 11 times. His teams were national runners-up in 1972, 1979, and 1984 and reached the semifinals three additional times. Korver received NAIA Coach of the Year honors in 1973 and 1985 and is currently 11th on the NAIA’s all-time coaching wins list. He coached 32 NAIA All-Americans and was inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame in 1990.
Korver also played for Northwestern, graduating in 1954 when it was still a junior college. He went on to South Dakota State University where he earned First Team All-Conference honors in football and was team MVP in both football and basketball.
Raider football alumni and supporters are also invited to a reception on August 30 from 1-4 p.m. at Prairie Winds Events Center in Orange City with a brief program at 2:00 p.m. The come-and-go event will have snacks, soft drinks and a cash bar. Attendees are asked to RSVP to alumni@nwciowa.edu.
