Ireton Community Foundation announces 2023 Grant recipients

The Ireton Community Foundation presented this year’s grants on Thursday. The mission of the Ireton Community Foundation is to fulfill community needs, impact future growth and development of Ireton, and enhance the quality of life by providing leadership, creating opportunities, and challenging the community to share time, talent, and resources.

The Ireton Community foundation was established in 1998. Erlene Kading wanted to ensure that charitable programs in the community were supported now and in the future. She planted the first seeds of giving through a gift from her estate to establish an endowment within the Siouxland Community Foundation for the exclusive benefit of the Ireton community. The Ireton Community Foundation now serves as a vehicle to receive gifts from individuals, families, businesses, and organizations to establish endowment funds that will provide grant awards for years to come. All gifts received are carefully invested and the income from endowments is used to make grants to public charities that best meet the needs in Ireton. An advisory board appointed by position is responsible for governing the Foundation.

This year the Foundation awarded grants totaling 11-thousand-95-dollars to three organizations.

The City of Ireton was awared 6-thousand-dollars towards an electronic message sign.

West Sioux Community School District was given 595 dollars for the Ireton Elementary PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports).

The Ireton area historical society was awarded 4,500-dollars towards roof replacement of the Kemper School House.

The Ireton Community Foundation reports that over 136-thousand-dollars in grants have been awarded to support over 90 community betterment projects, and the services of local organizations.
