Northwestern College first baseman Grant Guidry is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports baseball player-of-the-week.
“Grant had a great weekend and has really been swinging the bat well,” head coach Brian Wede stated. “His ability to hit for power can be a game changer for our lineup, as we saw this weekend.”
Guidry, a freshman from Yantis, Texas, launched three home runs and drove in seven runs as Northwestern went 3-1 in the weekend series at Waldorf. The freshman hit .563 on the week and had multi-RBI outings in three games. In Friday’s 7-4 win, Guidry went 4-for-4 with three RBIs and a homer, while also going 3-for-4 with a run scored in Saturday’s 19-3 win.
He is 11th in the conference in RBIs (28) and is hitting .347 on the year with three home runs and eight doubles.
Guidry receives his first career GPAC weekly award and joins two-time selection Drew Dykstra as Raiders to be honored this year.
