Five Raiders Receive CSC Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Northwestern men’s track and field student-athletes Donovan Elmore, Lane Johnson, Drew Geetings, Elijah Weaver, and Payton Van Sickle have been recognized with College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors, the CSC office announced today.

Competing in high jump and once in the 100m, Elmore placed 13th at the GPAC Championships with a leap of 1.81m. The exercise science major from Cedar Falls, Iowa had a season-best jump of 1.83m at the Wayne State Wildcat Classic on March 28.

An elementary education major from Centerville, South Dakota, Johnson competed in the pole vault at 14 meets this season. He hit a PR mark of 4.25 at the SDSU D2/NAIA Open on February 1 and placed second at the Dennis Young Indoor Classic. The sophomore notched six top-five finishes on the year.

An NAIA Outdoor Championships qualifier, Geetings was an all-conference finisher in high jump and javelin. He won the high jump at three meets and had four top-three finishes in javelin. The junior business major from Pella, Iowa hit PRs in javelin (55.03m) at the Red Raider Open and in the high jump (2.01m) at the GPAC Outdoor Championships.

Weaver, a GPAC Indoor all-conference placer in the 60m hurdles, competed in 13 meets this season. The junior elementary education major from Forest City, Iowa compiled eight top-five finishes and won the 60H at the Dennis Young Indoor Classic.

An all-conference athlete in the 4×800, Van Sickle, competed in 13 meets for the Raider track team. He set PRs in the 800m (1:58.68), 1000m (2:52.52), and mile (4:41.36). In his second year at Northwestern, Van Sickle hails from Ogden, Iowa and is working toward a degree in finance.

The CSC Academic All-America teams will be announced on Wednesday, July 16.
