Dordt runners named GPAC Cross Country Runners-of-the Week

Joy Koole of Dordt University is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women’s Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week. Koole, a sophomore from Windsor, Colorado, came across the finish line with a career-best 5K time of 18:04 to take the individual title at the Sunflower Open. That time was 28 seconds faster than her previous best. She earned the second win of her career and helped lead the Defenders to the team title. Koole’s time ranks fifth best in the NAIA this season.

Hudson Hamilton of Dordt University is the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men’s Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week. Hamilton, a sophomore from Fort Worth, Texas, was the top collegiate finisher in the 6K at the Sunflower Open last weekend. He came across the finish line in 18:34, 2.5 seconds faster than his teammate Jackson Prins and trailing only an unattached runner. Hamilton’s second place finish is a career best and helped lead the Defenders to the team title with a perfect score of 15pts. Hamilton’s time is the sixth fastest 6K this season in the NAIA.
