Coaches All-State Baseball Teams Revealed

MOC-Floyd Valley baseball player Brooks McCarty has been named a first team all-state outfielder in Class 3A by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association. The junior hit an even .500 this summer while driving in a team high 33 runs and stealing 23 bases. Junior teammate Kaleb Koerselman made the third team outfield while freshman teammate Henry Heller was named third team utility as the Dutchman went 27-5 and advanced to a substate final.

Following a 19-7 season and a trip to the state quarterfinals, West Lyon is well represented on the Class 2A all-state squads. West Lyon senior pitcher Ridge Kramer posted a 0.95 E.R.A. over eight starts and 10 appearances and was named to the second team. Wildcat senior Tate Hawf is in the second team outfield after hitting .423 and stealing 24 bases. Junior Easton DeJong earned third team utility honors for West Lyon.

Class 2A state runner-up Unity Christian posted a 28-10 season and has two all-staters. Junior Braeden Bosma belted 6 home runs, drove in 38 and batted .381 enroute to being named a second team all-state catcher. Junior Dylan Bosma is the 2A third team shortstop. He hit .358 with 34 RBI and 23 stolen bases for the Knights.

Remsen St. Mary’s lost its first game of the season and then did not lose again until the Class 1A state quarterfinals, and the Hawks have four all-staters. Pitcher Colin Homan and catcher Landon Waldschmitt are first teamers while shortstop Daenon Loucks and third baseman Dalton Klein are on the 1A second team.

Also out of the War Eagle Conference, Hinton second baseman Brady Dunkel was named to the 2A first team, Akron-Westfield first baseman William Hartman made the 1A second team and MMCRU’s Lucas Braun is in the 1A third team outfield.
