A Worthington, Minnesota, man is facing a string of felony charges tied to jackpot winnings at Grand Falls Casino near Larchwood.
According to the Iowa DCI, 49-year-old Julio Cerritos Mejia allegedly claimed more than 60 jackpots worth over $136,000 since 2016—using another man’s identity. Investigators say the scheme came to light when the IRS contacted the real victim, a Texas man, about $20,000 in unpaid taxes on casino winnings.
Cerritos Mejia now faces charges including forgery, identity theft, fraudulent practice, and conspiracy. He remains in the Lyon County Jail on $50,000 bond, with a preliminary hearing set for Friday.
