What Sioux County Voters Need to Know Before Tuesday’s Primary Election

Sioux County voters are being reminded to double-check their polling locations and bring proper identification ahead of Tuesday’s primary election.

Polls across Sioux County will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on election day. Sioux County Auditor Joe Van Tol says voters can no longer cast early ballots at the courthouse once election day begins.

Van Tol says early voting at the Sioux County Courthouse remains available through Monday at 4:30 p.m. The courthouse will also be open for voting on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Van Tol also reminded voters that Tuesday’s election is a primary election rather than a general election.

As of May 1st, Sioux County had 22,967 active registered voters, according to the Sioux County Auditor’s Office. Republicans accounted for 71.6% of registered voters in the county, followed by no-party voters at 20.2%, Democrats at 7.7%, and other party affiliations at 0.4%.

Van Tol says voters unsure of where to vote can verify their polling location online.

Polling place information, maps, and sample ballots are also available through the Sioux County website. Van Tol says voters may also contact the Sioux County Auditor’s Office for assistance.

All voters are required to show an approved form of identification or have an attester present at the polling place.

Voters who did not pre-register or who need to update their address must also provide proof of residency or have an attester.

Curbside voting is available for voters unable to enter the polling location, and all Sioux County polling places are equipped to assist voters needing accessibility accommodations.
