Kreman says he made the decision earlier this fall, driven by family priorities and a desire to slow down after nearly four decades in the education field.

Kreman’s retirement becomes official on June 30, the end of his current contract. Announcing the decision early gives West Lyon time to prepare for new leadership ahead of the 2026–27 school year.

To assist, the district hired Grundmeyer Leader Services, the same firm used in its recent hiring of an elementary principal.

Adams brings years of experience, including 11 years as superintendent at MOC-Floyd Valley. He now serves as program director for Northwestern College’s educational administration graduate program and also works within the college’s Center for Innovation and Leadership.

Kreman says the next superintendent will inherit a district positioned for success. Before arriving at West Lyon, he spent 11 years as principal at Iowa Valley, following several years in education in Tipton, Iowa.

Kreman says the district gave him an opportunity he’ll always appreciate.

West Lyon is set to complete a $32 million bond project with a dedication ceremony on December 15. The search for West Lyon’s next superintendent is ongoing.
