Vehicle Destroyed in Car Fire North of Orange City

A vehicle was destroyed in a fire on Friday afternoon near Orange City.

According to Orange City Fire Department Chief Dan Roghair, crews were called around 3:20 p.m. to a report of a car fire at the intersection of B40 and Ironwood Avenue — about four miles north of Orange City and roughly two miles east of Sandy Hollow.

When firefighters arrived, the vehicle was already fully involved. Roghair says crews used a combination of water and foam to extinguish the blaze.

No injuries were reported.

The fire was determined to have originated in the engine compartment, though no specific cause could be identified. The vehicle was totaled, and firefighters remained on scene for approximately 30 minutes.
