Election Results: Sioux County 2025 City and School Board Races

Here’s a look at the results from Sioux County’s 2025 city and school board contested races.

CITY RACES

Boyden: Three candidates ran for two council seats. Incumbent Stacie Damstra was re-elected with 39%, joined by Wanda Brands with 32%, while incumbent Austin Loges finished third with 28%.

Granville: Three candidates sought two seats. Both incumbents were re-elected — James Wynia with 51% and Chris Hunt with 47%, defeating Chuck Kreber (1%).

Hawarden (updated with correction): Five candidates competed for three city council seats. Robert Klocke (inc.), Trevor Schelling, and Benjamin Bouza won the seats. Patricia Anderson (inc.) and Jerry Wilson finished behind.

Ireton: Five candidates ran for two seats. Nathan Anderson and Loren Mosterd won the seats, ahead of Pat Johnson, Darrell Hoogendoorn, and Jim Lewis.

Orange City (updated with correction): Eight candidates vied for two council seats. Mark Scallon (23%) and Andrew Bloemendaal (22%) were the top vote-getters. They will, however, go to a runoff vote with the third and fourth place finishers, Adam Howerzyl & Tony Vande Brake. The runoff election will take place on December 2. Kenton Vore, Luke Livingston, Dennis Vander Wel, and Grace De Boer Brown were also in the election.

SCHOOL BOARD RACES

MOC–Floyd Valley: In District 3, Kley De Jong defeated Sarah Jungers with 62% of the vote (912–549).

Sioux Center: Five candidates ran for three at-large seats. Incumbents Jerod Work and Yeabsira (Yabby) Doornink were re-elected. Scott Varilek won the third seat, unseating incumbent Nathan Bullock. Donna Tea finished fifth.

School District Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL) Measures

MOC–Floyd Valley: Measure TK passed with 84.96% in favor (1,203–213).

Sioux Center: Measure TL passed with 85.22% approval (519–90).

Chatsworth (write-ins filled seats)

  • Mayor: Write-ins — 16 votes

     Angie Cramer — 13 votes

Granville

  • Mayor: Roger Goergen — 39 votes

Hospers

  • Mayor: Kelly Kooistra — 85 votes

Hull

  • City Council (3 seats):
     Faye De Kam — 111 votes
     Edwin Westra — 107 votes
     Les Van Roekel — 108 votes

Matlock

  • Mayor: Charles Schwebach — 10 votes
  • City Council (3 seats):
     Tony Hughes — 9 votes
     Lori Hoven — 9 votes
     Jo Stegemann — 10 votes

Maurice

  • Mayor: Randy Hoekstra — 50 votes
  • City Council (2 seats):
     Bill Korver — 49 votes
     Isaac Holtrop — 44 votes

Orange City

  • Mayor: Deb De Haan — 1,068 votes

Rock Valley

  • City Council (3 seats):
     Rod De Kam — 129 votes

MOC–Floyd Valley

  • District 5: Christine Koerselman — 1,246 votes

Rock Valley

  • At-Large (3 seats):
     Jacob Brosamle — 134 votes
     Shelli Rens — 127 votes
     Steven Van Den Top — 126 votes

West Sioux

  • At-Large: Travis Waterman — 499 votes
  • District 1: Thomas Sellers — 472 votes
  • District 2: Sunday Ford — 484 votes

Northwest Iowa Community College

  • District 1: Cynthia Porter — 629 votes
  • District 7: Ron Heemstra — 581 votes
