Unofficial Results: Sioux County 2025 City and School Board Contested Races

Here’s a look at the unofficial results from Sioux County’s 2025 city and school board contested races.

SIOUX COUNTY – CITY RACES

Boyden: Three candidates ran for two council seats. Incumbent Stacie Damstra was re-elected, joined by Wanda Brands, while incumbent Austin Loges finished third.

Granville: Three candidates sought two seats. Both incumbents — Chris Hunt and James Wynia — were re-elected, defeating challenger Chuck Kreber.

Hawarden: Five candidates competed for three council seats. Incumbents Patricia Anderson and Robert Klocke led the field along with Benjamin Bouza, while Trevor Schelling and Jerry Wilson trailed in partial results.

Ireton: Five candidates ran for two seats. Early results show Loren Mosterd and Nathan Anderson leading; others included Jim Lewis, Pat Johnson, and Darrell Hoogendoorn.

Orange City: Eight candidates vied for two council seats. Winners were Mark Scallon and Andrew Bloemendaal, topping the field in a crowded race that included Adam Howerzyl, Grace De Boer Brown, Luke Livingston, Tony Vande Brake, Dennis Vander Wel, and Kenton Vore.

No contested city races appeared on ballots in Alton, Chatsworth, Hospers, Hull, Matlock, Maurice, Rock Valley, or Sioux Center.

SIOUX COUNTY – SCHOOL BOARD RACES

MOC–Floyd Valley: In District 3, Kley De Jong defeated Sarah Jungers with 62 percent of the vote.

Sioux Center: Five candidates ran for three at-large seats. Incumbents Jerod Work (26.9%) and Yeabsira (Yabby) Doornink (22.0%) were re-elected, while challenger Scott Varilek (23.0%) unseated incumbent Nathan Bullock. Donna Tea finished fifth.

No contested school board races were held in Boyden-Hull, Rock Valley, West Sioux, or for the Northwest Iowa Community College Board of Trustees.

School District Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL) Measures

MOC-Floyd Valley: Measure TK passed with 84.96% in favor (1,203–213).

Sioux Center: Measure TL passed, earning 85.22% approval (519–90)
