Two Sioux Center men were arrested Sunday evening following a traffic stop southwest of the city.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says the stop happened around 5:05 p.m. on November 16 at the intersection of 420th Street and Garfield Avenue, about three miles southwest of Sioux Center. Deputies say the driver, 20-year-old Kaden Van De Berg, showed signs of being under the influence of cannabis.
During the investigation, deputies also found marijuana in the possession of both Van De Berg and a passenger, 19-year-old Filiberto Lopez. Van De Berg and Lopez were taken to the Sioux County Jail.
Van De Berg was charged with Operating While Under the Influence, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon While Intoxicated, Possession of a Fraudulent License, and Possession of Alcohol Underage. Lopez was charged with Possession of Marijuana.
The Sioux Center Police Department assisted at the scene.
