Two people were taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle crash near George.
According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened along A34, about six miles east of George. Investigators say 20-year-old Jefferey McClellan of Schaller was driving east in a 2020 Ford pickup when 45-year-old Gilpatrick Panuel of Boyden, traveling north on Marsh Avenue in a 2005 Mercury, failed to stop at the intersection of 210th Street and Marsh Avenue.
Panuel’s vehicle collided with McClellan’s pickup in the intersection. Panuel and his passenger were taken by Lyon County Ambulance to Sanford Sheldon Hospital for treatment of injuries.
McClellan’s pickup sustained about $12,000 in damage, while Panuel’s vehicle sustained about $8,000 in damage. Both were considered totaled. Panuel was cited for failure to obey a stop sign.
