Traffic Alerts as B-40 Paving Reaches Sioux Center

Paving work on B40 is reaching Sioux Center this week, and there will be a number of traffic impacts locally. Paving on B40 will reach the eastern access of the Sunrise Trail residential area Friday. All of B40 from there to K64 will be closed to traffic except for residents. During this paving work, there will be heavy truck traffic on 13th Ave. E. between the fairgrounds and Sioux Center Health corners.

Friday afternoon, paving equipment will be brought to the west end of the B40 project, near 7th Ave SE.

Starting Friday afternoon, traffic will have no access through this west end of the project for about one week. During that time, traffic to the hospital/Sioux Center Health, should use the east entrance on B40 or the 13th Ave SE entrance.

Paving will begin Monday near 7th Ave. SE and continue east past the west emergency entrance to Sioux Center Health. This paving will need to cure for a few days. Paving will continue on Thursday from just after the west entrance to Sioux Center health through the 13th Ave. E. intersection past the west entrance of Sunrise Trail.

This newly paved area will be completely closed until sometime later in the following week, the week of July 4. During this time, traffic to Sioux Center Health should continue to use the 13th Ave. SE entrance. There may be some access from the west on B40 with a temporary rock driveway as well.

The contractors ask motorists and residents to use detours whenever possible, as this is a construction area with a lot of people and equipment at work. Project Manager, Jason Meihost, says the project is on schedule and they’re looking toward an early August completion.
