A tractor was destroyed in a fire on Wednesday afternoon (January 14) near Sioux Center.
According to Sioux Center Fire Department Chief David Van Holland, crews were called around 4:10 p.m. to a report of a tractor on fire near 390th Street and Eagle Avenue, about seven miles west of Sioux Center along B40.
When firefighters arrived, the older tractor was fully engulfed in flames. Crews used water to extinguish the fire, and no injuries were reported.
The Ireton Fire Department assisted at the scene under an auto-aid agreement.
Van Holland says the cause of the fire remains undetermined, but it likely started in the engine compartment or may have been electrical in nature. Damage to the tractor was total, though the box scraper attached to it was likely saved.
Firefighters remained on scene for approximately 30 to 45 minutes.
