The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a single-vehicle crash that injured three people Sunday afternoon east of Boyden.
Authorities say the accident happened at about 3:48 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, on Highway 18, approximately two miles east of Boyden.
According to the sheriff’s office, a 14-year-old girl from Sheldon was driving a 2017 Land Rover Discovery westbound on Highway 18 when she lost control of the SUV. Deputies say the vehicle entered the north ditch and struck a tree.
The teen driver and two passengers were transported to Sanford Sheldon Medical Center for treatment of injuries. Authorities have not released the extent of those injuries.
The Land Rover sustained an estimated $13,000 in damage.
The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by the Boyden Fire Department and Boyden Ambulance.
